Hey thereπ I'm Lo Cianflone,
a UX designer + M.S. HCDE student @UW-HCDE
I’m currently a UX designer based in Seattle and a second-year M.S.HCDE student @UW-HCDE. Previously, I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2018, majored in Finance at Leeds School of Business, and minored in Creative Technology and Design (formerly TAM).
After graduating, I landed at inventHQ, a community makerspace and design studio as a Creative Technologist. My work at the makerspace taught me a lot about human nature and how learning design skills creates opportunities for people at any age!
I'm passionate about understanding bias and ethics in design systems, connecting people across disciplines, and gamification in interaction design. With my multidisciplinary background, I can quickly connect how technological components connect to products, and how people can use those products in a specific cognitive and contextual setting. Thus, I can ensure effective collaboration between design, research, and engineering.

Since you're here, might as check out some of my favorite things!

Colorado Wildflowers
Gaillardia aristata
These flowers always remind me of where I grew up in Colorado. Brown-eyed Susans, Paintbrushes, Western Columbines, and Bluebells. Anytime I see them here in WA they always remind me of a mountain meadows and the alpine slopes of the Rockies.
Purple Foxglove
Digitalis purpurea
Foxgloves are perennial in the Pacific Northwest, and unfortunately, not native. These gorgeous giants seem to spring up along many of my favorite trails in summer.
Shaggy Parasol
Chlorophyllum rhacodes
During one of my first walks in Seattle's Discovery Park, my friend and I hunted for these gorgeous mushies. After many many spore tests to confirm they were who they said they were, we made a delicious risotto.
Douglas Fir
Pseudotsuga menziesii
The Dougs of the Pacific Northwest grow to be over 1000 years old. If you see a really really big tree with bark that is rough and scaly, give it a good hug.
